Italian Super Cup: Milan 2-1 Inter

Posted by SacT0wn on August 6, 2011 at 7:05 AM

vs.

Expected result to be honest.  What makes me disappointed is that we show great promises in the first half but with out shit defense, we blew it.

Do you remember the event before the 2nd goal?  Both teams were getting into it and the game was stopped for like a few minutes.  You would have thought that much time, we would take advantage and regroup our formation but no, one freaking long ball and they have 2 players against our 3.  How did that happen?  I'll tell you.  We suck at defending and that's final.

Also what I don't understand is why Gasperini takes out Alvarez for Faraoni.  Alvarez was doing just fine I thought.

Obi is my man of the match.  He was great defensively and productive offensively.  Awesome player and worked hard.

Anyway, we need reinforcements and I can't add much more to it.  Hopefully with Lucio back instead of Chivu, our defense can somehow suck it up and play better.  Forza inter per sempre.  It's time for bed.

Well said Marc. This squad is far from the standards to play posession or attacking football. Near 3 weeks untill the end of mercato I wonder what are the board waiting for? Inter wasted a complete mercato last summer in refreshing the squad. Januray only did alittle in the case of rebuilding the team. Now it's the time to step up the project at least up to 60-70%. In this manner we should consider all the aspects including age, wage and quality of the players. Being -223,4 in the financial situation (only Man City being lower than us) is no joke. It's just mind blowing!! Alot of the players in the current squad had to be already offloaded before when Moratti had the chance to sell 'em for a good price. Now it's much harder to offload these players since they are all aging and have massive wages and really are far from the impact that they had in the past. We should look into now and the future, not now and the past!

Inter have never played possession or attacking football, really. When I first became a fan Trapattoni was the coach. He was well known for being super defensive. I also remember Cuper, Mourinho and a couple of others who were just as defensive. Mancini was a bit different. Mancini was the first one who played attacking football, but in my view it more due to the quality of the squad compared to the rest of the league. I just don't see it happening now that this squad is getting older. You don't teach an old dog new tricks. And this squad is definitely old.

I totally agree Chainsaw. This team is too old to play with 3 backs as far as I'm concerned. To do that you need to dominate possession. Inter haven't dominated possession in years and they certainly aren't going to start now. Wrong tactics for this squad.

....Can you say 'Rafa'?

So Marc if we dont start now to learn how to dominate possession when will we be able to?
About the age now I think its time to use our old pal to teach younger one like Rano23, Nagatomo, Obi, Alveres, Castaignos etc to be able to play at any possession.

Yes for the beggining its hard but we gotta try it.

i agree with gema alfa putra why doesn't gasp play a 3-4-1-2 instead of 3-4-3 i mean we have sneijder still we might as well take advantage of him in his best position. if we swap out sneijder with tevez only then can i understand us using 3-4-3. and i think our wings should maicon and zanetti/nagotomo

I totally agree with Sactown and Chainsaw, i still questioning alvarez subtitution to faraoni than pandev, and Obi is the best last night. I don't know whats going on with Chivu for last 2 years. Many fatal errors come from him on the back. I just thinking that if Milan play with long pass strategy it will be disaster for us because we just have 3 defenders againts 3 players attacking mind of Milan, if the one man make blunder, that's the problem, and IT'S HAPPEN! Beside that, i think we are good enough to push Milan in the first half.

I think if gasperini still want to use 3 defenders on the back, he should change the formation to 3-4-1-2, Sneijder as trequerista, and 2 strong winger that always ready to support when defending and attacking. With this formation we can have a strong in the the middle and the flank side without changing the main position of Sneijder, and we have a lot striker on the front. When defending we could change to 5-3-2-1, when attacking we could change to 3-4-1-2. So, 3 defenders just the shadow formation. Oh my, i just thinking to have park ji sung on the left, Maicon on the right side. Two players that have horse strength.

Beside that we are not on the best if we look the composition the first squad and the bench sub. Milan come with their best squad like last season. We have the new faces, new coach, and new strategy. We need to be more patient to reach the best performance. I think if we have Lucio, Milito, Cambiasso and Maicon, the result will be totally different.

juliano, I don't think 3 men defence really works with these set of players. It's a formation which requires lots of pressing and as you could clearly see the team was totally exhausted in the second half after surviving well for like 60 minutes. Beside it needs strong WBs and the rest of the midfield needs to do both pressing and creativity well (like Barcelona for example) and attack needs to be vital as well. Inter is far from these standrads. Unfortunately with this formation Inter can't be defensively nor offensively strong and I doubt Gasp can stick to this system for long. Unless he will face the sack in no time.

when inter attack, they rely on eto'o and sneijder. that's it. no creativity in midfield that can help them. inter's mid is a muscle mid. not the creative and skillful one. inter in need that kind of player. we need someone who can help the attacking line so inter's build up play will not be so easy to be cut off. at least we must have 2 creative skillful players that can make inter mid alive.

as for defense, from my pov, inter's back are the best. look at their names, lucio, ranocchia, samuel, chivu, etc. they're monster in defense. it's just a matter of time so they can blend with 3 man defense that gasp wanted.

so the key for us is. patience guys... this gasp's inter just been together in a short time. they're going to be better.
there's no instant way for a long succesful campaign

Inter squad needs alot of changes. Branca says they only need to sell 3 players and one youngster. That's just dissapointing! You mean we only wanna sell Muntari, Mariga and Rivas as senior players?!

Inter attack obviously need a vital player upfront. Eto'o alone is far from enough for a team like Inter. Everytime the opposites close down Eto'o and Sneijder the team will be totally helpless. We need attacking players, whether on midfield or forward. I hope they seal Tevez deal asap. Inter have to offload Milito and Pandev. They earn big wages and don't have enough impact in the team. Milito is finished and Pandev not good enough. Midfield needs reinforcements as well. At least two new players should arrive.

If the two squads stay as they are, we Inter fans better get used to losing to Milan for a little while. If we lose Sneijder, we better get used to losing to Milan for a while. If the other top players do what I think they will do once Sneijder leaves (demand to leave as well), we better get used to losing to Milan for a long while.

The thought of it is enough to make me depressed.

totally agree with ya,,,

i was so upset not because we lost in the super coppa, but it's because we lost to Milan,,,

I'm just wondering how many friendlies (I'm talking about real ones) that Milan have had this season before this one. Not trying to make excuses but they are way more ready for this than we are. Shit, they recalled all their Brazilians back for this one and all participated in this game.

For us, it is a wok in progress. Like it or not, it is going to be bumps on the road before we fans can have a good idea on where the team is at. Cambiasso, Milito, Coutinho, Maicon, Lucio are not here yet and I'm sure with they would make a difference had they played this one.

It is going to take time, Rome wasn't built in one day. A championship contending won't be built in one day. Let Gas and especially our management do their work. We fans sit back, relax and enjoy this upcoming season.

FORZA INTER.

it was disappointing defeat for sure, but on the bright side we played without lucio, maicon, and milito, while milan were at full strength. hopefully sneijder stays or atleast we replace him with tevez.

I think many would agree that Inter's first half was great, as rarely before, especially in the midfield. Unfortunately only that, and games played by Alvarez and Obi are the positive things from the derby. Anyway, there is never a good defeat. What a least like is the overturn from 1-0 to 1-2. I remember that when Inter did that 2 or 3 seasons ago to bilan we were very strong. I hope the team gets better until 28th of August.
