The Mirror: Inter Want Benitez. Branca: "There's Only Jose Mourinho"

Posted by anonymous on May 18, 2010 at 1:34 PM

Af if the Spanish tabloids were not enough, here we bring you the British, according to which, Inter have contacted through its technical director Marco Branca, Rafa Benitez, currently the Liverpool coach and one of  the candidates to replace Jose Mourinho at Inter.  Specifically, The Mirror has said that there have been contact from both parties, and this claim is a surprise to everyone.  The British newspaper claims that Benitez is taking the time to know the intentions of Liverpool.  Difficult, however, that both's expectations will be met.  The Reds, in fact, are in deep economic crisis and won't be willing to reinvest to improve the team.  For this reason, the Spanish manager would be tempted by the experience at Inter.

This claim of a contact with Benitez was quickly and sharply refuted by the same Branca.  "I have never contacted Benitiz - said the Inter director.  The coach of Inter is Jose Mourinho."  An exclamation point that blows away the alternative hypotheses to the Portuguese, although his future remains a doubt.  Inevitable, however, that the rumors of his departure will become increasingly noisy as we approach May 22.

==========

My coaches for Inter next year:

1.  Jose Mourinho.  Miracles do happen.

2. Guus Hiddnink.

3. Fabio Cappello.

Other than those three and I'm on suicidal watch.  :D

Who do YOU want to see as Inter's coach for next season?

Mihajlovic shouldn't be in this conversation. He hasn't done enough in his young coaching career. A couple of nice win and helping Catania staying up ain't gonna enough for a big club.

Hi, I love your site
I am admin of Inter Milan's site in Viet Nam.
I would like Mourinho stay even through I'm not fan of him, just recognize his talents as coach...
But it'll be difficult now.
I hope Laurent Blanc but no news of contacts about him and Inter.

Mourinho is not imperative to Inter's success in my opinion. If Capello or Trappatoni would come I think Inter would remain at a similar high level. All those coaches (including Mourinho) are not known for overly attacking football. Capello is the only one I can think of that is on Mourinho's level as far as being a winner is concerned.

Of course, if Inter do win the triple, any coach who comes in would have a tough task to complete. Look at Barca. This year they won their league, got back to CL 1/2 finals, won the Club WC, won the UEFA Super Cup, won the Spanish Super Cup and yet some are saying the season was a disappointment. Shheeesh!

im still hoping mou will tough it out one more season or at least real madrid wont fire pelligrini right away... if not the only coach i would accept this summer is capello.. i have a strange feeling that him + inter will be a success.
