THE FOUL FOR THE PENALTY WAS OUT OF THE AREA. OBI: UNJUST RED CARD.
Rocchi: 3 - Negative protagonist. Mistakes against Inter then facilitated an incorrect penalty for Napoli (there was nothing on the first yellow for Obi).
The night to forget for Rocchi: under the watchful eyes of Braschi, referee designator, he became the protagonist in a negative way. Heavy oversights that gave a penalty which was not there and Obi's sent-off that affected the game and infuriated Inter. Rocchi started out with some good judgements as he did not step in after a contact between Gargano and Maicon. A contact that was initated by Maicon and it was not ruled as obstruction. At the 10th minute, however, first big mistake as he gave Obi the first yellow card on the non-existent foul against Lavezzi because he did get the ball. At 25th, instead, assistant Romagnolo was perfect signaling the offside of Pazzini after the shot from Zanetti: the striker got the rebound after a mistake by De Sanctis but the goal was canceled. At 28th yellow to Zuniga for obstructing Zanetti.
1. The first yellow card given to Obi after a non-existent foul on Lavezzi.
2. Rocchi assigned the penalty but Obi's push on Maggio was outside the area.
3. Campagnaro entered the area before Hamsik's shot: penalty should be retaken.
The disaster Another mistake by Rocchi at 33rd minute: he could not see the trip by Zanetti against Lavezzi on the edge of the penalty area. At 37th, Lavezzi was tacked down by Chivu: yellow was OK. The game started to derail at 41st when Rocchi, who did not get help from the other assistant Nicoletti, gave Napoli a penalty kick because Obi pushed Maggio. The foul was clearly outside the box. To add insult to injury: here came second yellow for Obi. Not only that, the penalty should be repeated because Compagnaro along with Samuel entered the area before Hamsik. The disadvantage started to make Inter nervous: Zanetti got a yellow for dissent after another foul given to Napoli. And then there was Julio Cesar came at Rocchi vehemently probably because the goalkeeper had noticed the irregularity of Campagnaro. The wrongdoings from the referee also made Ranieri to lose his temper who had a discussion with the referee at the end of first half: he, too, also saw red. In the second half, the atmosphere was less fiery. Pazzini got angry at two offside calls by Nicoletti but the assistant was right. At 29th in the second half, Mascara got a yellow for time wasting. Romagnoli did good on the 3-0 as Hamsik was played onside by Maicon.
