Luis Figo: Don't Live In The Past

LUIS FIGO: "INTER WILL RECOVER WITH MAICON AND SNEIJDER."

Luis Figo, the foreign minister of Inter, has a message: "At this moment, we don't need to live on memories."

A message that deserves some thinking.

"If Inter want to get up the standings quickly then we should not think about what we won the recent years but only need to focus on the next game."

Are Inter still "hungry"?

"No kidding.  If one is not hungry, he cannot play at a big club.  Champions always want to win."

What does Ranieri bring to the team?

"Balance and experience."

And then?

"Ranieri has coached big clubs in Italy as well as abroad.  He knows how to make moves in difficult times.  Inter need to be at its normal level.  Now, however, the new coach needs to get results in order to have this dressing room even more firmly."

The Inter coach is eagerly awaiting the return of Sneijder.

"It's normal.  He makes all the difference.  Inter badly need a healthy Sneijder.  The Dutch champion guarantees quality and goals."

Is Wesley still a hundred percent with this project of Inter?
"Yes.  He is the first one that wants to continue to win with the Nerazzurri shirt."

Other essential pieces?

"Maicon.  Go and watch the replay of Inter-Napoli and you will understand the importance of the Brazilian in the mechanics of how Inter play.  His advances give unpredictability in the team's movement."

Inter have suffered from injuries.

"Also because they all happened together.  Do we want to talk about the absence of Thiago Motta?  In the midfield, he would have been very valuable.  And I just read the injury of Julio Cesar in the last friendly in Brazil."

Hamstring trouble.

"This is just a strange year.  We just cannot empty our infirmary.  But it will pass."

Can Inter win the title?
"Of course.  The table doesn't scare me.  Napoli are flying.  Juventus are doing well and watch out for Udinese, a team that is having a great season without Sanchez.  But there's time to get up there, we have only one month of football.  Practically nothing."

Is there a rival that you particularly are afraid of?
"I would say Napoli but we must have respect for all opponents that ahead of us in the standings.  And, at this moment, there are many."

The sale of Eto'o was painful but, on paper, Inter still have a good team.

"True.  But teams are not made with names of the players.  We must prove that we are stronger than our rivals on the field."

Javier Zanetti is one of the candidates for the Golden Foot.

"A champion and a great example for all those who have entered the Inter dressing room."
