Gazzetta dello Sport: Agreement Reached For Balotelli

Posted on August 13, 2010 at 12:23 AM

MARIO IS LEAVING AS AGREEMENT REACHED BETWEEN INTER AND CITY

Close at 28 million.  Balotelli today in England for visits.  Five-year contract: 3.5 million euros per season plus bonus.

OH YES!!!

Goodbye Balotelli: today he'll fly to City for visits.  To Inter is 28 million.

Raiola: "A decisive step forward."  Tomorrow Balotelli to be in the stands at Tottenham, his debut with Manchester City will be either the 19th or 23rd.

Milan - Balotelli is going to City and it is all over.  At 7 this morning, he will fly to Manchester for a medical and alongside him will be his manager, Raiola, who yesterday was in Milan for the decisive moments.  Both parties have already closed negotiations with the basis of 28 million euros.  The agreement between the player and the English club was found for 4 days now thanks to the quiet work of the lawyer Vittorio Rigo: a five-year deal with 3.5 million net per season, plus bonuses linked to the amount of appearances and goals.

The meeting The agent parked outside of the office of Inter Vice-President and Minister of Finance Rinaldo Ghelfi, and with him, they all reached the headquarters of Inter.  Then at around 17:00, technical director Marco Branca and lawyer Angelo Capellini arrived.  President Massimo Moratti, through telephone call, was at the meeting.  And the representative of Manchester City? "I am..." Raiola replied with a smile, then he left Palazzo Saras at around 20:00.

Raiola satisfied "I won't speak about the figures and we have not yet reached agreement.  But it was an important step forward with two clubs during this meeting.  Things could close shortly.  Lacking at the moment is the effort from both sides.  If I did not believe in an happy ending I would have stayed on the beach with my children.  Possibility that Inter with cold feet and City to focus on a different striker? Never say never.  But I am only working to close with City."  In the evening, the last effort became reality and now Balotelli has a ticket for the flight this morning.

No Tottenham It seems difficult that Balotelli will make his debut tomorrow in London against Tottenham.  "We tried to close the transaction on time but I see it almost impossible for him to play in the first league game.  If we close tonight (yesterday) there would be little time for the various bureaucratic steps."

Cup debut? The boy, obviously, did not get a call-up to play in Bari.  And at Tottenham, he will only be in the stands, Balotelli could make his City debut in the preliminary round of the Europa League against the Romanians of Timisoara or at the latest against Liverpool  on the 23rd.

Seems its a matter of time now, but i have to point out that this move is rather quite contrary to Inter's style in the transfer market. The sale of Mario has only been triggered with Maicon's stay (which by the way is MASSIVE- the guy's a beast, i was really worried about selling him). But fact of the matter is, Mario is a 20 year old promising youngster (Italian, may i add) while Maicon is an ageing player who may have a little less to give (unless he's got the Zanetti genes). Mario has scored goals on Juve at the age of 18. It is understandable some money had to be generated and Mario will never cost more than what he is getting sold for today...

Point is, Inter want success. Which is what we all need. Inter fans are hungry and the treble has made fans hungrier. Branca and Moratti have to keep an eye for 3 or 4 years down the line though.
