GENOA - Sulley Muntari came off the bench and scored in added time at the end of the first half as Inter saw off Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The 1-0 win lifts the Italian champions above AC Milan, who take on Juventus tomorrow, and within a point of Serie A leaders Lazio, who travel to Palermo on Sunday.

Genoa made an attacking start to the Friday night fixture but Luca Toni failed to take advantage of several clear chances.

Inter lost Esteban Cambiasso to injury in the 19th minute and on came Muntari.

In the last minute of first-half stoppage time the Ghana midfielder received from Wesley Sneijder and whacked a left-foot shot past Eduardo to give Inter the upper hand.

The Nerazzurri suffered a further injury blow twenty minutes after half time when Julio Cesar came off with a muscular problem.

On came Luca Castellazzi for his first Serie A game for Inter after a substitute appearance against Werder Bremen, and the Brazilian's understudy protected his team's lead with saves from Toni and Destro.

==========

Other than the 3 points, there is nothing good from this game.  The injuries, the horrible performances... we didn't play well at all.  Thanks Eduardo though.

I watched the game again, and i will not blame the team for this performance...the pitch is so bad that our sure footed captain was slipping and sliding.
secondly, I hope and pray that I am proven wrong by biabiany. That is why I said for NOW i would prefer Pandev. He has had about the same number of run outs as COU and everyone can see that Cou is beginning to have an understanding with his teammates. Finally, you also know that one can play too had trying to impress the coach.

I agree about the pitch but I also believe you are underselling Biabiany's play. It is true he needs to work more with Maicon. Part of Maicon's struggle has been linked with Biabiany's inabiltity to correspond with him but I think once they work that out with some experience Bipbips pace, creativity, and upside all outshine Pandev. He was one of the only guys out there today really trying critically to create opportunities. That said having him and cou on the field at the same time is too much inexperience.

There should a standard for football pitches...This pitch is bad and only genoa players seem to have a handle on it.. the ball was bubbling and bouncing all over and throwing our players timing off. Genoa can afford a new field surface for all the money they have gotten from Inter. Now we have 2 more players injured. Secondly, I prefer Pandev to Biabiany for now...This boy makes very bad decisions. All the speed in world can not help you on a football pitch if you cannot make good decisions. Passes that were instinctive between Eto'o and maicon are gone. this boy just takes the ball and runs infield, either looses it or runs out steam b4 he gets to the box and Maicon is left just standing there.

Pretty bad game all around but BipBip continues too look positive up on the wing and Samuel is continuing his dominance in the back.

Santon was lost and was a liability all game and Muntari, besides his lucky goal, showed his lack of class throughout.

Pretty clear we need to make a purchase in January but you won't hear me complaining about 3 points.
